Charity Race Day - 11 December 2009
All supporters of Cheltenham Samaritans are invited to attend the Mayor of Cheltenham Moyor of Tewkesbury's Charity Race Day at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Samaritans in Promenade - 5 December 2009
Samaritans, from the Cheltenham & District branch, will be manning a stall in the Promenade, Cheltenham on Saturday 5 December. They are aiming both to raise awareness of the work done by the leading emotional health charity in reducing the number of deaths by suicide and to attract further volunteers to Samaritans.
Street Collections
It costs over £40,000 per year to run the Cheltenham & District Branch of Samaritans. Supporters of Cheltenham Samaritans will be raising much needed funds for us in December at Aldi (in Tewkesbury Road) 18/12/09 , Tesco (Bishops Cleeve) 22/12/09 and Sainsburys (Oakley) 23/12/09.

Vonnies Blues and R&B
This year Vonnies Blues and R&B club has nominated Cheltenham Samaritans as its charity of the year. The chair of Cheltenham Samaritans, Valerie Nicoll,gratefully received a cheque for £5,500 when she visited the club on Wednesday, 11 November.
A Trafalgar Night Dinner
A Trafalgar Night Dinner was held in aid of the Cheltenham Mayor’s Charities on Saturday 17th October at the Cheltenham Sea Cadets HQ in Alstone Lane.
Proceeds from this event brought the total amount raised so far to £6369.42. This sum will be shared between Cheltenham Samaritans, Cheltenham Alzheimer's Society and Maggie's Cotswolds as well as the Cheltenham Sea Cadets.
Local Shows
Volunteers from Cheltenham Samaritans joined forces with volunteers from Gloucester, Hereford & Worcester at the Three Counties Show between 19 & 21 June to raise public awareness of Samaritans within the area.Cheltenham Samaritans also had stands at the Cotswold Show in July and the Moreton-in-Marsh Show in September 2009.
Auction of Promises
Cheltenham Samaritans, as one of the Mayor's Charities, held a highly successful Auction of Promises at Sacred Hearts Church Hall, Moorend Road, Cheltenham on Friday 4 September 2009 raising over £3,500 to be shared between the four charities.
Cheltenham Beer Festival
The Fourth Cheltenham Beer Festival was held on 11 July 2009 at the Old Patesians Club in Everest Road, Cheltenham. This popular, annual event, organised by the Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans, attracted around 1,000 people including the Mayor of Cheltenham, Lloyd Surgenor.
The festival was a huge success, raising over £8000 for the Cheltenham branch of Samaritans, and provided great entertainment for whole families as well as those who came to sample the real ale.
Open Gardens - Barnsley House
A Garden Open Day & plant sale took place at Barnsley House, near Cirencester, on Thursday 28th May 2009 and all proceeds, totalling £929, were generously donated to the Cheltenham & District Samaritans.
Inauguration of Mayor
Samaritans are most grateful to Lloyd Surgenor for naming Cheltenham Samaritans as one of the four charities which will benefit from the council's fundraising efforts during his period of office as Mayor of Cheltenham.
Janet Dibley supports Recruitment Campaign
Leading actress Janet Dibley supported Chelenham Samaritans' recruitment drive during her visit to Cheltenham. On Tuesday 5 May 2009, Janet, who was performing in "Women on the Verge of HRT" at the Everyman Theatre, took part in a photo shoot with a group of volunteers.
Car Boot Sale
A group of volunteers, from Cheltenham & District Samaritans, ran a stall at Cheltenham Racecourse on Sunday 26 April 2009 to raise much needed funds.
Recruitment Drive
Cheltenham Samaritans launched a recruitment drive at the start of 2009. In particular the branch was seeking additional listening volunteers to help cope with the increasing number of calls and the further development of email and text services for callers.
Annual General Meeting
The 45th Annual General Meeting of the Cheltenham & District branch of Samaritans took place in the Frances Twyford Room in Victoria House at 7.30pm on Thursday 29 January 2009.
