Barnsley House - Garden Open Day
A Garden Open Day & plant sale took place at Barnsley House, near Cirencester, on Thursday 28th May 2009 and all proceeds, totalling £929, were generously donated to the Cheltenham & District Samaritans.
The many visitors enjoyed the beautiful Barnsley House Gardens, designed by the late Rosemary Verey. She was one of Britain’s best known gardeners and Prince Charles is reputed to have said "Mrs Verey makes gardening seem the easiest and most natural thing in the world". Without any professional training, Rosemary Verey rapidly gained a reputation as having an excellent eye for colour, line, and textures. Her client list soon grew and she wrote many well known books.

In addition to having the opportunity to buy some wonderful plants, visitors were impressed by such well known features as the temple with its pool, the laburnum walk, the knot garden, the potager and the Chelsea garden.
