Local Shows - 2009
Volunteers from Cheltenham Samaritans joined forces with volunteers from Gloucester, Hereford & Worcester at the Three Counties Show between 19 & 21 June to raise public awareness of Samaritans within the area.

Cheltenham Samaritans also manned a stand at the Cotswold Show in Cirencester on the 4 & 5 July. The show attracted a large number of visitors many of whom were attracted to the Samaritans stand by the free iPod draw. Consequently many people gained an insight into the work of Samaritans and a significant number requested further information about volunteering.

The lucky winner of the iPod draw, who came from Aylesbury, said “Many thanks. We have received the iPod. Leo is very happy and surprised as I did not tell him he had won”.
In September, Cheltenham Samaritans were much in evidence at the Moreton-in-Marsh Show. Half a dozen volunteers were to be seen greeting members of the public, distributing leaflets, sharing Samaritans' vision of a world in which fewer people take their own lives and talking about the emotional support services provided by Samaritans.
The winner of our iPod draw at this event was W. Warrington from Moreton-in-Marsh. Mr Warrington, who was representing the local St John's Ambulance Service at the show, was "chuffed to bits" as a result of his winning the iPod.
