PRESS RELEASE

“Women on the Verge of HRT” star takes time out to support Cheltenham Samaritans.

5 May 2009

Leading television and stage actress Janet Dibley, who is currently co-starring in “Women on the Verge of HRT”, is taking time out from her busy schedule to promote Cheltenham Samaritans' recruitment drive.

Janet will be appearing in a photo shoot with a group of volunteers from the Cheltenham branch and signing a Samaritans’ tee-shirt that will be auctioned to raise funds in support of their current campaign. Janet, who is a Samaritan volunteer in Eastbourne, recognises the valuable service provided by Samaritans branches around the country and their need for over 100 active volunteers in order to provide 24 hour support every day throughout the year.

Cynthia Pearce, director of the Cheltenham branch, said “More people than ever before are using the service provided by Samaritans. We now provide support by phone, email and SMS text as well as receiving face to face callers in our branch in Back Albert Place. In order to enhance the support we provide to the distressed and desperate people in the district we are actively seeking new volunteers and we are pleased to have someone as well known as Janet Dibley helping to raise the profile of our campaign. Anybody who is considering becoming a volunteer should check out www.cheltenhamsamaritans.org/volunteer for further information.”

Anyone needing the support of Samaritans, in the Cheltenham area, can get emotional support by phoning 01242 515777, emailing jo@samaritans.org or visiting the branch in Back Albert Place.
